Farewell to the Renault
Domestically, we have finally both changed our car AND bought a big-dish statellite system –off of a real live Del-boy. After five years it has to be said faithful service, the (red) Renault 19 has goan. As one with Ballymena blood, the replacement -and equally basic, but rather nice 10-year old (deep maroon, don't you know) Honda Civic Aerodeck (Estate)- exhibits the principal feature of an almost 5000 Euro price tag . Added to a 20% exchange rate drop -for as long as it might last, we basically continue to top up living expenses from UK sterling funds- and a noticeable upwards creep in prices, we still sometimes wonder how we are in the position, but somehow or other we are, even if one of our recent visitors started a story with something like “If only you`d managed to stay at home and make it all work …..” We`re lovin` it!
